The Seven Chakra Energy Points

The word 'chakra' originates from a Sanskrit work meaning 'wheel', if you could see chakras (as many people can) you would be able to see each of the seven primary chakra as a spinning wheel of energy. The Chakras start at the base of the spine and go up through the head almost in line with your spinal column. There are Seven main (known as primary) Chakras and about one hundred smaller (or secondary) chakras known as meridians. These maridian points are used during acupressure and accupressure treatments to free up the energy (Chi) flow. The main seven Chakra points deal with our spirituality and emotions and any imbalances or blockages in the flow of their energy can result in a physical ailment of the body. Each chakra point relates strongly to a specific part of the body, specific emotional issues and spiritual concerns.

7 ~ Crown Chakra ~ Violet in colour, this Chakra is located just above the head, related to Spirituality and Connecting with the Universe/Source
6 ~ Third Eye Chakra ~ Indigo in colour, this Chakra is located on the forehead between and just above the eyes, related to your third eye and psycic development
5 ~ Throat Chakra ~ Blue in colour, this Chakra is as the name would suggest located at the throat, related to communications and self expression

4 ~ Heart Chakra ~ Green in colour, this Chakra is located in the center of the chest and is related to love of self and love of others

3 ~ Solar Plexus ~ Yellow in colour, this Chakra is located between the ribs and the naval, it is related to self-esteem & emotions.

2 ~ Sacral Chakra ~ Orange in colour, this Chakra is located just below the naval, it is related to issues concerning creativity and sexuality

1 ~ Root/Base Chakra ~ Red in colour, this Chakra is located at the base of the spine, it is related to grounding and security
When clear and balanced the chakras spin at a specific vibration unique to each, when blocked the chakra can become sluggish or spin too quickly, this can manifest as pysical illness within the body. In order to maintain or achieve a balanced chakra system it is essential to do regular work on each chakra point and address the issues relating to any imbalances. Imbalances can be corrected with (amoungst others) reiki healings, crystal healings and colour therapy. A general rule of thumb when working with chakras is to use a crystal similar in colour to the corresponding chakra point.
